Thanks L&S .
The one I am trying to recall had a much longer , more coherent jam . It's possible one of MH friends was sitting in . It became Ollin Arageed - like , but with a much different Arabic flavor . I have never heard them play a CF jam like this .

Crazy Fingers was one they almost never performed as well live as they did on the studio version...the "One From the Vault" release show in 1975 is, i think, the closest...the versions after 1976 are, IMO, really pretty embarrassing, if for no other reason than Jerry's voice just can't hit the notes needed for the song to really shine. And I agree instrumentally they sound awfully clunky and choppy.

The H>S>Franklins years really were at peak in 1977. The Buffalo War Memorial of 5/9/77 and the June Winterland version exactly one month later 6/9/77 are hard to beat...but maybe the best "Franklins" of 1977 was played in Springfield, Mass. at 4/23/77.

The 1983 versions weren't too bad, altho' a little rushed-sounding...and Jerry's voice was on the way to frog-town so you lose something there.

The H>S>F from 10/11/77 (Lloyd Noble Center, Norman, OK), featured on Road Trips Vol. 1, No.2, is a tremendous version as well. Truly a flawless rendition! I believe this was the last one played prior to the hiatus of the three song arrangement.
